JOB DESCRIPTION – Bookkeeper
Position Summary:
As a bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and reconciling accounts. This position’s key characteristics are consistency, accuracy, and minimizing errors.
It is indispensable to know accounting and understand how to use accounting software.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate must be able to –
- Execute general bookkeeping tasks, including but not limited to those below.
- Loading of daily payments onto the bank for authorisation.
- Capturing bank statements and performing daily bank reconciliations.
- Processing and reconciliation of supplier accounts.
- Responding to and resolving supplier queries.
- Responding to and resolving customer queries on debtors’ accounts.
- Actively managing the debtor’s book, including the collection of outstanding balances.
- Petty cash management and reconciliations.
- Capturing of ad-hoc monthly journals and monthly/weekly journals.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Collaborate with other team members to support financial analysis and reporting needs.
- Maintain relevant filing and general administration.
- Complete general ledger reconciliations.
- Reconcile and review stock accounts from valuation to general ledger.
- Ensure all clearing accounts are balanced and cleared.
- Check subsidiary ledger batches before posting.
- Check admin documents captured into the system.
- Ensure resolution of queries within the agreed service level agreement.
- Provide resolved queries per telephonic & written communication (feedback) to suppliers.
- Participate in various ad-hoc projects where necessary.
- Monthly Profit & Loss reporting.
- Analysing monthly variances.
- Analysing general ledger accounts.
Requirements:
- A university-level degree or equivalent would be advantageous, with a solid bookkeeping qualification as a minimum requirement.
- 3-5 Years of experience and understanding of financial and accounting principles.
- The candidate must have high confidentiality, emotional maturity, ethical values and integrity.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Working knowledge of SAP and Acumatica would be advantageous.
The candidate must have a reliable car and a valid driver’s licence.
